ZIPLINE

Rope skiing, which has become famous among extreme sports, especially in recent years, gives athletes adrenaline-filled minutes. It is possible to have fun moments accompanied by unique views on natural and artificial rope skiing tracks.

What is Zipline / Slip on Rope?

Rope slipping, also known as zipline, is the sport of gliding with a steel rope or ropes stretched from a high point to a lower point. Steel ropes connected to wheeled pulleys help athletes slide downwards with their slippery structure. In order for the system installed between the exit and destination points to be safe, high quality materials must be used.

How To Slip On The Rope?

Equipped with safety equipment, athletes glide on the rope from a high point to a low point. Natural and artificial lines have varying heights. Natural lines; It is established between valleys, canyons, hills and mountainous terrain. Woodlands are the most preferred natural line areas. Wooden platforms are positioned on tree trunks and these lines are formed in a practical way. Artificial zipline lines are set up between lower heights. Especially those who have a fear of heights may prefer these artificial lines. These tracks are created by stretching steel lines between wooden and steel platforms, concrete structures and roofs.

Slip lines on the rope have different lengths. Athletes can experience adrenaline-filled minutes by choosing what they want from short, medium and long lines. Tracks ranging from 50-100 meters are defined as short, lines between 100-250 meters as medium, and lines from 250 meters to 3 kilometers are defined as long courses. Passage units are generally included in long lines. Medium length tracks constitute the most preferred tracks.

In order to help athletes make a controlled landing, there are spring systems at their destination. Spring and brake systems that slow down the speed and stop the athletes should be included in terms of safety.

Materials Required for Slip on Rope

Some equipment should be used in order to make the sport of skiing on the rope, which is performed at meters high, safe. Both the equipment used by the athletes and the established system must meet the standards and be produced with quality materials. Private organizations that provide slip on rope provide all this equipment for athletes.

Safety Harness

Athletes who will slip on the rope must first wear this safety harness. The legs and waist support harnesses have a seat-like structure. In this way, very comfortable safety harnesses are used as a precaution against falls. The harness parts with adjustable shoulder, leg and waist parts are connected to each other with the help of carabiners.

Helmet

As in all extreme sports, athletes must wear helmets against possible dangers. No matter how durable and robust the equipment is, helmets provide extra protection against possible falls.

Steel Ropes

Steel ropes that connect high and low points to each other are generally produced with two materials, stainless chrome or galvanized. The steel ropes stretched between the carriers are extremely durable and can lift high weights.

Extension Rope

Extension ropes are used in order for the athletes advancing on the steel ropes to stand steadily. With the help of carabiners, the extension ropes that form a bond between the pulley and the athletes are produced with materials resistant to external factors.

Pulley

The mechanism that allows athletes to slide down on the steel ropes is the pulleys. Usually double bearing rollers are used in zipline lines.

Safety System

There is a brake and safety system that allows athletes to stop slowly while they are close to their destination. Thanks to this speed reducing system, athletes can stop safely.

Carbine

All parts on the line and system are connected to each other with steel and locked carabiners. Carabiners with a carrying capacity of up to 50 kn (1 kilonewton equals approximately 100 kilograms) are safe when locked.

When to Slip on Rope?
